We've all been there before, someone figures out that you want to be a teacher (or you are a teacher) and they immediately criticize. They wonder why someone would ever want that job. They make comments about how much you earn. They are rude; they are mean; and they are simple minded.
Below, is a slam poem that is perhaps the single, most perfect response to those types of people:
Below, is a slam poem that is perhaps the single, most perfect response to those types of people:
"You want to know what I make? I make kids wonder,
I make them question.
I make them criticize.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them write.
I make them read, read, read...
TEACHERS MAKE A GOSH-DARN DIFFERENCE"
I make them question.
I make them criticize.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them write.
I make them read, read, read...
TEACHERS MAKE A GOSH-DARN DIFFERENCE"
I honestly feel that this poem has no need for a follow-up. By now, one should realize that teachers have a direct impact on the lives of their students. One should realize that teachers directly shape students' thought processes and their learning. One should realize that teachers don't do their job because it makes them money, they do it because they care deeply about their students lives and well-beings. Teachers make much more than a dollar amount.
