Disclaimer: This video says some bad words. It's also really funny.
This YouTube video uses a great deal of comedy to address two important things. The first being classroom management and the second being mispronouncing a student's name.
I sometimes worry about classroom management. This is not because I doubt my abilities to lead and guide a classroom while maintaining some kind of order, but because I worry that my helpfulness will be taken advantage of. I worry that because I am more open to discussions and because I am more open to student involvement that I will receive less respect. I worry that students will take advantage of my kind heart and understanding nature. I worry that I will not know when to put my foot down or know how hard to put my foot down. I wish that there was a play book for handling potentially dangerous and inappropriate situations. I don't want to be a teacher that humiliates students but I also don't want to be a teacher that gets walked all over. I aspire to be a teacher that leads by example and respects everyone. I also aspire to be a teacher that students are comfortable enough to approach with questions.
I feel that there is a proper way to respond to situations that arise in the classroom, but there is a multitude of different situations and thus a multitude of different responses. And to be able to think on the fly of the appropriate response is terrifying. What if I respond incorrectly?
Side note: I greatly dislike when people mispronounce my name and I get really bad anxiety about mispronouncing other peoples' names.
